Inter-House Public Speaking
Students from year 5-12 impress judges and audiences with their high level of technical proficiency, their insightful ideas and their confidence through their skills in the public speaking competition. Students today are expected to have opinions and be able to express them fluently to others, giving many students the opportunity to face that most common of human fears- public speaking. The annual evening allows a huge variety of students to participate - from experienced and confident speakers, to prize winning speakers, to those who are delivering their very first public speech. Teachers, adjudicators, timekeepers, chairpersons and ushers decide the winner of each age division in the inter-house public speaking competition. Ordinal winners will vary with different points, which then contribute to house points. Past Georges River Grammar students frequently return to work alongside teachers, adjudicating the different divisions. Many other students assist with the smooth running of the evening by being timekeepers, chairpersons and ushers.

Athletics
The Athletics Carnival is also held annually and heavily symbolises our school community. During the Athletics carnival all students participate regardless if they are good or not. It is all about school and house spirit. Many students have created records and broken records. There was a very high participation rate in all events and the day was enjoyed by everyone. The team worked hard and entered many events, making a great competition between all houses. All athletes put in 100% and achieved great results. House points were rewarded to those who try out for the events and who cheer their teammate on.
Cross Country
The Cross Country held by students in Year 10. This is to because the school wants all students to experience leadership and learn leadership skills. All students participate for house points and house spirit. Over the past few years, cross country events have started to be recognized, and our school is participating in carnivals outside of, as well as within, the school. We have some very enthusiastic runners with some very pleasing results. People who were successful at the school cross country went on to compete in the NASSA cross country. It proved to be a very difficult track, but the runners still gave it their best.
